Sydney's eastern suburbs beaches — from Bondi and Tamarama south to Bronte, Clovelly, Coogee, and Maroubra — face north-east along a coastline of sandstone headlands that creates seven distinct beach pockets connected by the famous Bondi to Coogee coastal walk. Each has a slightly different swell and wind exposure due to its headland orientation; Clovelly is the most sheltered (it is a narrow inlet rather than an open beach), Maroubra the most exposed and consistent for surf.
